i’m one quarter of a century today and i’m baking my own cake and forming my own opinions on scotch and rental cars and the goings-on of quarter-centurions or something.

is there such a thing as vegan jello? i need to know right now.

“what do you want for your birthday, griff?” “2 new tires,” i say as i pine for animal crossing new leaf.

i just really think birthdays are stressful because it makes me think of birth. and my mom. whose house i am at. in a little town that i drive through and think, “why would anyone want to be alive? it’s so hard.” but when i leave i’ll remember what life is maybe. i need to go

get therapy.

quarter-life crisis day.

Guys, this is important. It’s part of the “serious side” of tumblr. Show this to ANYONE who wants to come to he World Cup. PLEASE.

Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets in at least seven major cities across Brazil as a social movement against a recent hike in public transportation fees escalated into a broader popular protest against the government’s prioritization of business-friendly development over important social issues, and the extreme violence of the Brazilian police crackdown on peaceful protesters. This video shows why we are protesting.

If you are my follower I beg of you, reblog this. It might help to spread the word of what’s going on here.

Please watch if you’re thinking of going, or to get a better idea of what this really means to Brazil.

lickystickypickyshe:

Imagine if writers spoke about other people’s professions the way other people speak about writing.

yes, but, anyone in the arts who would discourage someone who does not pursue that art for money is doing art wrong. that goes against the purpose of the arts and the human condition. there are whole swaths of art philosophies that assert that there should be a divorce between the artist and how he makes a living—that there is something intrinsically less valuable about a piece of art that is motivated by anything but the piece itself. not that this is true or untrue, but amateurism is vital. if it wasn’t, we would only have classical music to listen to. we’d be, like, missing an integral piece of our humanity if we only let professionals pursue the arts.

Student expelled from college for being a lesbian, forced to repay scholarship funds

gaywrites:

A conservative Christian college in Omaha expelled a student one semester before her graduation when they found out she was a lesbian — and then demanded she repay them for scholarship funds she had earned.

Grace University has refused to transfer Danielle Powell’s credits to another school unless she pays $6,300, the tuition from her spring semester in 2011, when administrators found out she was gay. Powell would have been the first in her family to earn a college degree.

Michael James, executive vice president at Grace University, justified the college’s actions to The Huffington Post, affirming that its student handbook forebade “sexually immoral behavior.” Quoting from the handbook, James stated:

“Any student involved in sexually immoral behavior, including premarital sex, adultery, and homosexual acts, is at minimum placed on University probation and may be subject to a Judiciary Hearing.”

Powell and her wife started a petition to get Grace University to drop its demands. (By the way, they’re the couple who got engaged onstage at a Macklemore concert — watch the video!) She deserves better than this. Help her out?

make it loud, sister!
